Keeping good health is important during this critical period. AYC has made alternate arrangements to support your yoga practice to maintain good health.  Continue to keep up your yoga practice and stay healthy both physically and mentally. This programme started in Chennai on 25  Feb 2015  in honor of  Late Guruma Smt. Sugatha Kumari Andiappan. The aim of this course is to improve the health of women and children.  The class is free for all women aged between 40 and above and kids below 15 yrs old, but class size is limited to 25 students. 

Classes will be conducted by certified yoga teacher training graduates from Asana Andiappan College of Yoga and Research Centre, Chennai, India. Each class will be assisted by at least two volunteers.

Who can teach in this project: Andiappan Yoga Community Volunteer Teachers those who have completed a minimum of 200hrs Yoga Teacher Training Course with International Yoga Academy, Hong Kong can apply for this project.  Share the gift of yoga and help us in fulfilling AYC’s mission. Your enthusiasm and help are greatly appreciated.
If you are a registered AYC volunteer you are eligible to assist/ teach in this program, please follow these steps:
  1. Log-in to the AYC website (yogacommunity.org) 
  2. Under “My Profile”, click “Ongoing Projects”
  3. Find (Yoga for Women & Children, Chennai, India), and select “I would like to apply”
  4. Please wait for the admin to add you to the WhatsApp group before you start assisting / teaching.

Notes: This class will be open to the public and especially for women and children.
If you are interested to attend the class as a student, please follow the steps below to complete your registration.

  2. Fill in the details and upon submitting the form you will receive an email that contains the details of the class with location and timings etc.
  3. You can contact the project teacher with the details given in that email. or you can show up at the venue as per the day and time mentioned in the email.
  4. Remember to bring the email copy to show to the teacher on the first day of your class.

Dr. Kumari Lakshmi Andiappan

Lakshmi Andiappan is a fully qualified medical as well as a Yoga Therapy practitioner.  She has been practicing yoga from the young age of two under the eagle eyed tutelage of her Father and Guru Dr. Asana Andiappan, a pioneer of Yoga Therapy and Thirumoolar’s Ashtanga Yoga in India.  Beyond her medical qualification, Lakshmi has a Master degree in Yogic Science and is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Yoga Therapy. Lakshmi is the Chief Yoga Therapist at the Dr. Asana Andiappan College of Yoga ad Research Center in Chennai.  She is a well known Pre-natal Yoga Specialist in the State of Tamil Nadu India.  Lakshmi has won many awards in Yoga from district, state and international level. Today, Lakshmi presents in various conferences on various topics including yoga therapy for different ailments such as obesity, heart conditions, and most recently, yoga for pregnancy complications.  She is also on the expert panel of Asana – an International Yoga Journal.  She is keen to combine her medical knowledge with her yoga practice in order to share her learning and experience with her yoga students.
