I have been practicing yoga for the past seven years, under the direction of Master Yogananth Andiappan. I have completed a total of 500 Teacher Training hours organized through Anahata Yoga. Yoga practice has given me tremendous benefits, improving my physical and mental states.” – Andiappan Yoga Community Volunteer Project Leader Wendy Lam
As an academic, Wendy Lam has been working with cancer patients for the past 13 years. The physical symptom of stress is one of the common complaints by many cancer patients. Wendy is investigating yoga to determine if the practice can help alleviate the physical symptoms experienced by cancer patients.
As an Andiappan Yoga Community member, she was one of the volunteers first offering yoga classes to cancer patients at Tuen Mun Hospital. This teaching experience gave her an opportunity to share the benefits of yoga with the patients. Her most memorable experience teaching yoga was to see how the practice helped cancer patients build self-confidence and manage the physical symptoms of their illness and thereby to improve their overall well-being.
