About this Project:

A growing body of scientific research is beginning to confirm what yogis have known for millennia – yoga offers a wealth of benefits for everyone…and seniors are no exception! Yoga classes for seniors are becoming increasingly popular – after all, seniors are the fastest-growing demographic in yoga!

Mental health issues are common among the elderly aged 60 or above in Hong Kong.  Andiappan Yoga Community has partnered with Lok Sin Tong to teach tailor made yoga classes for their needs. Our highly trained yoga teacher volunteers are now teaching gentle poses and breathing techniques that help to address depression and other mental and physical health issues. We initiated this project on 30th September 2017 at Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society where yoga is introduced to seniors. We had over 15 students aged from 60 to above 90.

Lok Sin Tong was established in 1880, currently operates more than 50 subsidiary units across the region to offer a wide spectrum of quality services, including the provision of education, medical care and social welfare service. Andiappan Yoga Community is now partnering with Lok Sin Tong to bring the benefits of you to the caregiver groups.

Eligibility:

Anyone aged above 55 and those who are registered with Lok Sin Tong Society can attend this free yoga class. Please approach the staff of LSTBS to register for this class.

Interested in volunteering for this project?

Teaching volunteers should have a minimum of 200hrs Yoga Therapy YTT Certificate with International Yoga Academy HK.

長者治療瑜伽課程 (樂善堂)

越來越多的科學研究開始證實練習瑜伽為人們帶來莫大的好處,長者瑜伽課程亦越來越受歡迎。香港 60 歲或以上的長者而當中有精神健康問題是很常見。就此安迪潘瑜伽聯盟與樂善堂合作,為一眾長者量身定制了瑜伽課程。 透過我們訓練有素的義工瑜伽導師教授合適的瑜伽式子和呼吸技巧,以幫助他們援解情緒上的壓抑及其他身心上的健康問題
我們於 2017年9 月 30 日在樂善堂慈善會發起了這個項目,向長者介紹瑜伽。 我們有超過 15 名年齡在 60 歲到 90 歲以上的學生。 Yogananth 博士介紹了瑜伽的好處,並解釋如何在任何年齡下練習瑜伽以及它如何幫助關節炎、行動不便或其他與衰老相關的健康問題,  安迪潘愉伽聯盟的義工導師們亦悉心協助教授長者坐在椅子上做的各種治療性的瑜伽式子和簡單的呼吸技巧,深受一班”老友記”為之喜愛。

九龍樂善堂1880年正式成為一個慈善機構,服務為多元化,包括:醫療、教育及安老服務等,並積極支持及贊助各項社會公益及文娛教育等活動。現時轄屬機構共達五十多個,分佈遍及港九新界。Andiappan Yoga Community 正與樂善堂合作,將瑜伽的好處帶給一眾看護員。

有興趣申請為此計劃義教之AYC義工:已完成香港INTERNATIONAL YOGA ACADEMY 200 小時瑜伽教師培訓之ANDIAPPAN YOGA COMMUNITY義工可以申請為此計劃義教。一起分享瑜伽的恩賜,亦幫助我們實現AYC的使命。我們十分感激您的熱誠和幫助。

已登記為AYC義教者:您可以申請為本計劃教授瑜伽或協助教學。請完成以下步驟:
