About this Project:

The Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers (SARDA) was established in 1961 to give aid and support to drug abusers who are on their road towards recovery and rehabilitation. SARDA is also committed to providing preventive education and community support services to help create a drug-free community in Hong Kong.

The Andiappan Yoga Community (AYC) is pleased to partner with SARDA in offering yoga workshops to communities from South Asian regions. In fact, yoga has been a complementary practice and a holistic approach that encompasses a variety of methods and tools to help achieve, maintain and enhance recovery. The use of different physical postures (also known as asanas) and breathing techniques (also known as pranayama) can assist participants in connecting their body, mind and soul, to gain self-awareness and to draw their attention inwards.

Quieting down all external influences through yoga may help a person seek inner peace through self-reflection and come to a personal realization of what may be needed to change his/her life. It is hoped that the yoga sessions offered by AYC can provide a healthy outlet for participants to cope with their daily stress, potential triggers, and better manage their emotions through a calming and mindful practice. We hope the benefits of yoga can stay with the participants throughout their lifetime and help them gain clarity of the mind whenever they need to.
