Foster Barnes began experimenting with yoga in 1998 as an alternative form of exercise, and readily discovered that the practice also promoted mental and spiritual benefits. He uses the restorative power of yoga to correct imbalances in his body and mind. He practices to improve his posture, balance, and alignment but also to calm his mind, manage anxiety, and open his heart. Learning and exploring various aspects of yoga led Foster to the practice of karma yoga. Today, he serves the Andiappan Yoga Community as volunteer coordinator, assisting a team of volunteers in their efforts to share yoga with others. He also teaches a yoga program for people living with HIV. Foster has completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training course in St. Petersburg, Florida, U.S.A.; 200 hours in Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda; and 200 hours in Advanced Hatha, levels one and two, at Anahata Yoga, Hong Kong.
