About this Project:

Yoga Therapy for Pain Patients from Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Anahata Yoga

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Patient Resource Centre (QEH PRC) was established in 1993. Providing disease-related information and continuous support services to its chronic patients and care-givers, to enhance their ability to manage the disease, and to facilitate the mutual help and support network during their rehabilitation journey.

An article from Harvard Health Journal in April 2015 reported that yoga helps pain relieve. Yoga can help people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraine, low back pain and many other types of chronic pain conditions. A study published in Annals of Internal Medicine found that among 313 people with chronic low back pain, a weekly yoga class increased mobility more than standard medical care for the condition. Another study published at nearly the same time found that yoga was comparable to standard exercise therapy in relieving chronic low back pain.

Andiappan Yoga Community partners QEH PRC offering free yoga therapy class to their pain patients. A therapeutic sequence of gentle yoga poses and breathing techniques will be taught in this class. Aiming to help pain patients relieving chronic pain and increasing mobility.

Andiappan Yoga Community

*This class is only available for yoga class graduates from QEH PRC.
