”I love practicing backbends and inversions because they are so challenging. It has helped me to learn patience, overcome fears and made me believe that it’s possible to achieve almost any asana/anything as long as I continue to work towards it.” – Andiappan Yoga Community Volunteer Project Leader Edith Chan

Edith Chan is a single mom who used to run a skincare business before she discovered yoga. The stress and anxiety of balancing home and work was overwhelming. One day, a friend recommended that she try yoga. Although she struggled with her first class, she enjoyed it and felt the benefits immediately. Yoga became a part of her life ever since. Edith has been practicing yoga for 11 years now, and cannot imagine a life without yoga. She has since left the skincare business to become a full time private yoga teacher. Edith hopes to share the many benefits of yoga with others. Yoga has helped her to stay healthy, balanced, compassionate, positive, and strong. It’s a big part of who she is today.

”I feel honored to be a part of the Changing Young Lives Foundation (CYL) and the Andiappan Yoga Community (AYC),” says Edith. ”Teaching women at the CYL is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. It was my first group class and it has taught me to teach with an open heart. I love their energy and I always look forward to teaching them. They are also my teachers.”
